Vela
DESIGN BY R&D DE CASTELLI
Vela is a table-sculpture that explores and enhances the
different facets and uses of metal. The stately oval top
in Venetian terrazzo made of white marble has been
crafted in collaboration with Laboratorio Morseletto
to embrace precious inserts of brass in an ethereal
composition, a burst of petals floating upon the wind.
The table top is juxtaposed with the sculptural three-
dimensionality of the base. Soft, sinuous folds unfurl
and alternate to create coves that rise into an intricate
conical trunk, delicate and solid at the same time.
Vela è un tavolo scultura che esplora e valorizza le
diverse sfaccettature e possibili applicazioni del metallo.
L’imponente top ovale in seminato veneziano di marmo
bianco, realizzato in collaborazione con Laboratorio
Morseletto, accoglie e custodisce preziosi inserti di
ottone in un’eterea composizione di petali al vento. Il top
si contrappone alla tridimensionalità scultorea della base:
morbide pieghe sinuose si srotolano in un’alternanza
di insenature che plasmano un volume tronco-conico
complesso, delicato e solido allo stesso tempo.
