Chinoiserie wallpaper in the dining room of
Marble Hill.
Marble Hill inspired our designers to create
a range of Georgian lighting suitable for
the modern home. Built in the 1720s for
Henrietta Howard, Marble Hill was an idyllic
Thames-side retreat from court life.
In 1755 the house’s dining room was
adorned with fashionable hand-painted
chinoiserie wallpaper. It took workers 47 days
to hang 62 sheets of the paper.
