New is a relative term in Istanbul. Much of what you will see here, dates from the 19th century and so is this stylized lamp. Honoring the skills in metalworking of Turkish artisans, Tophane modern suspension lamp mixes copper plated brass arms with directional aluminum shades lacquered in black and white. This contemporary lighting piece simultaneously reminds us of the typical Turkish hats as well as the cannons, once made in this old industrial district, currently the home of the Tophane-i Amire Culture.
