The kitchen has become the star of the house, the place that best reflects social
trends and changes // La cocina se consolida como la protagonista del hogar y se
convierte en el espacio que mejor refleja las tendencias y cambios sociales
It used to be the worst room in the house. The farthest way and most
uncomfortable, the most closed off. It was only used to store food and
prepare meals. But today’s kitchen has nothing to do with those from
the last century. Today it is the axis of home life, the family meeting
point, the nutritional and health control center, the place where the
most planning for environmental protection takes place, an area for
personal learning, a place for working… Today’s kitchen is the heart of
the home.
In addition, the home kitchen has become a perfect setting for
analyzing the changes the world is undergoing. According to the Global
Kitchen Study, an initiative of the Silestone Institute –an international
platform promoted by the Grupo Cosentino to foment debate about
the development of the domestic kitchen– kitchens perfectly reflect
the transformation of daily habits (individual, family, social, global)
anywhere in the world. And as such, it is an ideal space for reflecting,
debating, arguing, playing, imagining…
Is the technological development of utensils and appliances
transforming our way of cooking? How are we using social networks?
What’s the influence of our concern about a healthy lifestyle? And
about protecting the environment? Is the kitchen still just a place for
women? Are global habits putting local identities at risk? A total of 23
international experts have taken part in this study, which has been
complemented by a survey of more than 4,500 users in nine countries.
And these are their principal conclusions:
Solía ser la peor habitación de la casa. La más apartada e incómoda,
la más cerrada. Y en ella solo se almacenaban los alimentos y se
preparaba la comida. La cocina de hoy nada tiene que ver con la
del siglo pasado. Hoy es el eje de la vida en el hogar, el punto de
encuentro familiar, el centro de control nutricional y de salud, el lugar
en el que más se planifican acciones para proteger el medio ambiente,
un área de aprendizaje personal, un espacio donde trabajar… La
cocina de hoy es el corazón del hogar.
Además, la cocina doméstica se ha convertido en un escenario
perfecto para analizar los cambios que vive el mundo. Según el
estudio Global Kitchen, iniciativa de Instituto Silestone –plataforma
internacional impulsada por el Grupo Cosentino para promover el
debate sobre la evolución de la cocina doméstica–, la cocina refleja a
la perfección la transformación de los hábitos cotidianos (individuales,
familiares, sociales, globales) en cualquier lugar del mundo. Y, como
tal, es un espacio ideal para reflexionar, debatir, discutir, jugar,
imaginar…
¿Está transformando la evolución tecnológica de utensilios y
electrodomésticos nuestra forma de cocinar? ¿Qué uso damos a las
redes sociales? ¿Cómo influye la preocupación por una vida saludable?
¿Y por la protección del medio ambiente? ¿Sigue siendo un territorio
solo femenino? ¿Los hábitos globales ponen en riesgo la identidad
local? Un total de 23 expertos internacionales han participado en
este estudio, que se complementa con una encuesta a más de 4.500
usuarios de nueve países. Y estas son sus principales conclusiones.
