The title of coolest New York neighborhood has
moved a few streets away in recent years. If it
used to be Williamsburg, at the moment Bushwick
is the epicenter of the creative scene (and, yes:
it’s become a mecca for the city’s Instagrammers.)
Until recently, Bushwick was the area of Brooklyn
populated by Latinos hailing from the Caribbean
Islands; in fact, it was known as “Little Puerto
Rico.” Now, factories and working-class homes
have been converted into art galleries and
trendy lofts. But don’t imagine a neighborhood
completely populated by hipsters. One of its
main charms is found in the natural mix of all
kinds of people. The area boasts more than 50
galleries and vivacious nightlife; locals joke that
if the neighborhood had a last name, it would be
“That New Bar.” / La etiqueta de barrio más ‘cool’

cuenta con más de 50 galerías y una agitada vida
nocturna. De hecho, los locales bromean diciendo
que si el barrio tuviese un apellido, sería ‘new bar’.
