In front of a camera, do you recreate
a character? Delante de una cámara,
¿interpretas a un personaje?
When I get photographed, I show different
versions of Andrés Velencoso: the more
elegant one, the sexier one, the more seduc-
tive one, the kinder one, the funner one… It’s
not about recreations, but about my different
facets. / Cuando me fotografían muestro
diferentes versiones de Andrés Velencoso:
el que es un poquito más elegante, el más
sexy, el más seductor, el más amable, el más
divertido... No se trata de recreaciones, sino
de diferentes facetas mías.
How do you protect yourself then?
¿Cómo te proteges, entonces?
I think I look like I’m distant and cold but
I’m not like that up close. Of course, I try not
to mix my public and my personal life. / Creo
que transmito la sensación de ser distante y
frío pero no soy así en las distancias cortas.
Por supuesto que intento que mi vida
pública y privada no se mezclen.
What do you like to do the most when
you’re not working? ¿Qué es lo que
más te gusta hacer cuando no estás
trabajando?
Lately, I’m enjoying playing golf, which I
really like, quite a bit. It gives me balance
and peace. I find new people, other cities,
corners in Spain and new gastronomy. It’s a
different way to see life. I have always liked
the gym, though now I go easier on myself,
but I try to stay fit. / Últimamente estoy
jugando bastante al golf, me gusta mucho.
Me da equilibrio y paz. Conozco gente
nueva, otras ciudades, rincones de España
y otra gastronomía. Es una forma diferente
de ver la vida. Siempre me ha gustado el
gimnasio, aunque ahora me machaco menos,
pero trato de mantenerme en forma.
What can’t you live without? Y ¿sin qué
no puedes vivir?
Without a phone. Like most people, I think.
And without Tossa de Mar, I always go back.
/ Sin el teléfono. Como casi nadie, creo. Y sin
Tossa de Mar, siempre vuelvo.
Do you like to cook? ¿Te gusta cocinar?
Not much, though I come from the world of
hostelry. I do live quite a bit in the kitchen.
My house is open, with an isle kitchen.
Silestone, by the way. For me, it’s like a tem-
ple. We’re a family that has always enjoyed
the kitchen. In it, stories are ‘cooked’, we
rediscover ourselves, we talk. / Poco, aunque
vengo del mundo de la hostelería. Eso sí,
hago mucha vida en la cocina. Mi casa es
abierta, con una cocina con isla, por cierto,
de Silestone. Para míes casi como un templo.
Somos una familia que siempre hemos
disfrutado de la cocina; en ella se ‘cuecen’
historias, nos reencontramos, conversamos...
Now that you mention it, what was it like
to work for Cosentino for three years?
Ya que lo mencionas, ¿qué supuso
trabajar para la marca Cosentino
durante tres años?
An absolute pleasure. They’re like a family,
everyone is very nice, hard-working like
me. They invited me to Mojácar to spend
some excellent holidays and, from our first
campaigns, we were a perfect ‘match’ and
you can see that on the pictures and the
work. With humbleness and sacrifice you
can move forward. / Un placer absoluto.
Son como una familia, todos muy agrada-
bles, trabajadores como yo. Me invitaron a
Mojácar a pasar unas vacaciones excelentes
y desde nuestras primeras campañas hicimos
un ‘match’ perfecto y eso se trasmite en
las fotos y en el trabajo. Con humildad y
sacrificio se sacan las cosas adelante y el
resultado fue un éxito. Creo que Velencoso y
Cosentino son símbolos de éxito y por eso se
llevan, compaginan y equilibran tan bien.
