De los dos lóbulos que conforman el edificio, el este alberga un
auditorio que se levanta en voladizo sobre el mar, así como un centro
educativo orientado al norte, ambos concebidos para adaptarse con
flexibilidad a usos diversos. Por su parte, el cuerpo oeste cobija las
salas de exposiciones —caracterizadas por un gran ventanal que se
abre a las vistas sobre el entorno— y se completa con una cubierta de
vidrio que está formada por cuatro capas que protegen de la radiación
directa y permiten regular con flexibilidad la entrada de luz cenital.
A los anteriores volúmenes se añade un anfiteatro excavado en el
entorno del edificio. El programa se completa con un espacio acristala-
do que se sitúa en la planta baja, y que acoge un café, un restaurante,
una zona comercial y un punto de información. El conjunto así for-
mado crea la sensación de que el espacio interior y el exterior son casi
indistinguibles, y hace posible que los visitantes y ciudadanos pueden
disfrutar de un nuevo panorama del paisaje marítimo de la ciudad.

spaces designed with the maximum flexibility to adapt to multiple
activities. In the west volume the exhibition galleries unfold on two
levels, characterized by a spectacular double view over the sea and
the park. The exhibition space on the upper floor is illuminated
zenithally by glass roofing consisting of four layers which protects
against stray light and can be used to make the lighting flexible.
An amphitheater hewn out of the park runs alongside the Botín
Centre, its west facade equipped with a LED display for screenings
and outdoor cinema. On the ground floor a fully transparent façade
encloses a multifunctional space animated by a café, restaurant,
commercial space and the information point. In this way, the inner
and outer space are almost indistinguishable and visitors and citi-
zens can see the sea and landscape of the bay framed by the broad
eaves of the building.
