SESC Fábrica Pompéia
Para la remodelación
de una antigua fábrica,
Lina Bo Bardi añadió
en 1977 dos volúmenes
de hormigón al edificio
existente. Hoy alberga
un centro comunitario
con programas de ocio,
cultura y deporte.
El segundo edificio más
alto del país se inauguró
en 1956, convirtiéndose
en uno de los símbolos
de la ciudad. Desde
el restaurante Terraço
Itália, en la planta 44,
se puede disfrutar de
impresionantes vistas.
Proyectado por Paulo
Mendes da Rocha a los
29 años, el pabellón fue
premiado en la VI Bienal
Internacional de São
Paulo; está formado por
un anillo de hormigón
elevado sobre soportes a
una altura de 3,5 metros.
For the refurbishment
of an old factory in
1977, Lina Bo Bardi
added two concrete
volumes to the existing
building. Today it houses
a community center
for leisure, culture,
and sport programs.

people and including 72
store units and a church.
The second tallest
building in the country
was inaugurated in 1956
and became one of the
leading symbols of the
city, spectacular views of
which can be had
from Terraço Itália, the
restaurant on floor 44.
A project of Paulo
Mendes da Rocha at

3.5 meters tall.
