Creativity brings feeling to each project. Each work is unique
and challenging, but some have a different component. That’s
the case with Nick’s Place, a project by the Australian design
studio Nectaar to refurbish a family dwelling.
Nick’s Place (Avondale, Victoria) is the family home of George
Douros, a builder and one of the members of Nectaar. It’s the
home where he grew up with his parents, the place with millions
of memories and thus one of the bigest professional challenges
of his life. That’s why he was joined in the project by his wife,
Bec, the creative director at Nectaar.
This Australian studio decided to go with Dekton Portum, a clear
Dekton color inspired by natural stone, and one which highlights
the delicate contrast of the veins in gray tones.
Dekton Portum has been used on the countertop in the stove
area, as well as on the vertical surfaces above it and around the
extractor hood.
At Nectaar they say their mission as a studio is to link the
unachievable with the accessible, and that they try and consider
the small things and the details after analyzing the overall project.
In mixing rationality and feeling, as in Nick’s Place, you don’t
know what is big and what is detail: the memories, the future
planned out in renovated spaces like this, or the fact of working
on a project that really matters.

Es el caso de Nick’s Place, un proyecto de reforma de un hogar
familiar abordado por el estudio australiano de diseño Nectaar.
Nick’s Place (Avondale, Victoria) es la casa familiar de George
Douros, constructor y uno de los miembros de Nectaar. Es
la vivienda donde creció junto a sus padres, la que acumula
millones de recuerdos y, por lo tanto, uno de los mayores retos
profesionales de su vida. Por eso, le acompaña en la misión su
esposa y directora creativa en Nectaar, Bec.
El estudio australiano decidió apostar por Dekton Portum, un
color claro de Dekton inspirado en la piedra natural en el que
destaca el delicado contraste del veteado en tonos grises.
Dekton Portum se ha utilizado en la encimera que enmarca la
zona de fogones, así como en las superficies verticales que hay
sobre ella y alrededor de la campana extractora.
En Nectaar afirman que su misión como estudio es enlazar lo
inalcanzable con lo asequible y que tratan de considerar las
pequeñas cosas y los detalles después de analizar la foto global.
Al mezclar lo racional y lo emocional, como ocurre en Nick’s
Place, uno no sabe qué es lo grande y qué es el detalle: si los
recuerdos, el futuro planeado en espacios renovados como este
o el hecho de trabajar en un proyecto que de verdad importa.
