Photographer Karine Köng studied advertising in her native country,
France, and specialized in film and television with a master’s degree
in London. She was living in the British capital until she felt the call
of home and went back to France more than four years ago.
Köng chose Arcachon Bay, a spectacular natural setting in southwest
France, characterized by the oyster industry, very colorful unique
wooden architecture and the influence of the large Dune of Pilat.
But the most important element in this area is the imposing Atlantic
Ocean. Arcachon Bay is to the west of the Landes Natural Park, in the
middle of a round coast of clear sand that’s hundreds of kilometers
long. The sea and the region create a sensation of wellbeing and
eternal holiday.
La fotógrafa Karine Köng estudió publicidad en su país natal, Francia,
y se especializó en cine y televisión con un máster en Londres. Estuvo
viviendo en la capital británica hasta que sintió la llamada del hogar y
regresó a Francia hace algo más de cuatro años.
Köng escogió la bahía de Arcachon, un entorno natural espectacular y
tremendamente marcado por la industria de extracción de ostras, por
una arquitectura en madera muy colorida y peculiar y por el influjo de
la Gran Duna de Pilat.
Con todo, el mayor condicionante al aire de ese espacio era la
imponente presencia del Atlántico. La bahía de Arcachon se
encuentra al oeste del parque natural de Las Landas, en medio de una
rotunda costa de arena clara de centenares de kilómetros de longitud.
La sensación de bienestar y de eterna vacación venía propuesta por el
propio mar, por la propia región.
