Locals say that after creating the universe God rested His hand on
the Earth, leaving fingerprints that formed the estuaries of Galicia.
These estuaries, extensions of the sea reaching into the land, are
a hallmark of the region. Five of them—the Muros e Noia, Arosa,
Pontevedra, Aldán, and Vigo estuaries—form the region of Rías
Baixas. / Cuentan los lugareños que, después de crear el universo,
Dios apoyó la mano sobre la tierra y las huellas de sus dedos
formaron las rías de Galicia. Esas rías, extensiones de mar que se
adentran en la tierra, son una de las señas características de la
región. Las rías de Muros y Noya, Arosa, Pontevedra, Aldán y Vigo
forman las llamadas Rías Baixas.
This route is known for its beautiful beaches, fishing villages,
buildings from the Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque periods, and
irresistible cuisine. Cultivated on nearly 10,000 acres of vineyards,
the albariño grape variety. This was used to produce some of Spain’s
most celebrated whjite wines which reigns supreme in the region.
La ruta es conocida por sus hermosas playas, pueblos marineros,
edificios del románico, gótico y barroco y una gastronomía irre-
sistible. La uva albariño es la variedad reina de la zona, con más
de 4.000 hectáreas plantadas. Con ella se elaboran algunos de los
blancos españoles de mayor renombre. El caldo explica con precisión
cómo es el clima de la zona.
