Small houses and flats shouldn’t relegate
the kitchen to the background. Quite the
opposite. From it, a whole narrative can
be born, giving it the importance that it
deserves. Designer Drew McGukin knew this
when he created the project Studio Kitchen,
a place where the highest level of organiza-
tion emerges to turn it into a multidiscipli-
nary space where one can relax, have fun or
work. A modern and consistent kitchen as a
vehicular space in a house full of possibili-
ties. / Las casas y apartamentos pequeños
no deben relegar la cocina a un segundo
plano. Al contrario. De ella puede nacer
un proyecto integral que le aporte toda la
importancia que merece. El diseñador Drew
McGukin lo tuvo claro al proyectar Studio
Kitchen, un lugar del que emana la máxima
organización para convertirlo en un espacio
multidisciplinar donde relajarse, entrete-
nerse y trabajar. Una cocina, moderna y
consistente, como elemento vehicular de
una casa llena de posibilidades.
“This design tucks away traditional kitchen
requirements that often read as cluttered.
By streamlining utilitarian parts that read
“kitchen” when not engaged, we create
enough breathing room to allow the space
to be used in other ways”, explains the
designer. / “Este diseño se aleja de la cocina
tradicional que normalmente acaba siendo
un espacio abarrotado. Creando partes en
las que se puede ‘leer cocina’ y que no te
compromete con otros espacios de la
casa, damos la oportunidad de que este
lugar se utilice de muchas maneras”,
explica el interiorista.
The creator defines this new concept of
kitchen as something contemporary “a
point-of-view, a shift, a twist of one’s
perspective into something fresher, newer,
different, revisited, revitalized. Contempo-
rary is ever-changing. The current object
turns into something totally unexpected
next week, according to your needs”.
