ClassiCon
The showroom and offices of the ClassiCon company are located in the industrial
estate within the town and exhibition centre of Riem. Made of exposed concrete, the
monolithic building with its hard edges, clear lines and smooth surfaces provides a
neutral, unobtrusive setting for the presentation of the furniture exhibits. All materials
and colours were chosen so as to not distract from the furniture display. The asphalt
surface of the adjoining car park, for example, continues inside as the building’s
floor covering. The interior space has been arranged according to a few characteristic
elements. A massive fire wall separates the office area in the south from the storage
area free of supporting pillars in the north. Generous glazing facilitates interesting vi-
sual perspectives across the interior space, as well as onto the surrounding parkland
and neighbouring buildings.
