Long gone are the days when flatware sets were saved for special occasions.
Simply because silverware and dishwashers go hand in hand…
And there are simple and specific treatments that allow you to preserve or restore all your silver’s shine.
First and foremost, the best way to preserve the beauty of your sterling silver or silver-plated flatware pieces
is simply to store them in their cases or chests. Lined with anti-tarnish fabric, they protect the silver so that
you don’t have to clean them as often.
As for the dishwasher:
We advise you use powder detergent.
Good to know: It’s best to avoid putting your crystal glasses in the dishwasher at the same time as your
flatware, as that may tarnish the silver. Also, do not put stainless steel flatware or knives manufactured
before 1968 in the dishwasher.
Do you love doing the dishes?
If you can’t resist the temptation to wash your flatware by hand, do so gently.
Use a soft sponge (forget the ‘scratchy’ side and the dish brush) and mild dishwashing liquid (no citrus,
bleach, or rubber).
After washing, wipe the dishes immediately to remove any traces of water to avoid spotting.
That little extra touch
And to thoroughly pamper them from time to time, pull out all the stops.
Every need has a corresponding remedy. Make your choice based on which piece needs to be cleaned or
your preferred use.
- Dip your flatware in our Silver Flash anti-tarnish solution for a few seconds to restore all its former
radiance.
- Wipe your silverware with the polishing gloves or chamois cloth to restore the radiance to a piece that may
have lost its luster.
- Protect your flatware from oxidation by applying lotion or anti-tarnish cream.
Storage
All our storage cases and chests have an anti-tarnish cloth lining to protect your pieces from oxidation.
