Rieditato da Tacchini nel 2022 rispettando il suo spirito libero e innovativo, LE MURA
di Mario Bellini rappresenta il manifesto del design radical degli anni ’70, una rispo-
sta a domande di estetica, proporzioni ed ergonomia, ma anche più profonde, legate
a contenuti sociali, etici e morali. Il risultato è un progetto che unisce moduli di di-
verse forme e dimensioni in configurazioni pressoché infinite senza mai perdere la
forza inesauribile che lo caratterizza, oggi come ieri. Lontano da poter essere definito
un semplice divano, LE MURA mette al centro la modularità, che si esprime già nel
nome per richiamare i grossi massi che componevano le mura romane e che, come
gli elementi del sistema, si possono accostare teoricamente senza fine per entrare in
ambienti di diverse dimensioni.

Bellini’s LE MURA represents the manifesto of 1970s radical design, addressing
questions of aesthetics, proportions, and ergonomics, as well as deeper issues related
to social, ethical, and moral content. The result is a project that unites modules of
different shapes and sizes in virtually infinite configurations without ever losing the
inexhaustible energy that characterises it, both today and in the past. Far from being
just a sofa, LE MURA focuses on modularity, which is already expressed in the name,
referring to the large stones that made up Roman walls and can, like the system’s
elements, theoretically be joined endlessly to fit into spaces of varying dimensions.
