La finitura prevede \nun procedimento di levigatura e lucidatura ottenuta dall’utilizzo di abrasivi diamantati di ultima \ngenerazione che dona alla superficie maggiore lucentezza e durata e l’aspetto opaco o lucido \nsecondo la scelta. Per ottenere l’effetto opaco sono necessari 5 passaggi di abrasivo, per il lucido 8 \npassaggi. Ogni singola parte di cui è composto il marmo, assimila in modo diverso la lavorazione con \ngli abrasivi. Quindi le superfici trattate possono avere parti più o meno lucide o opache. Therefore the marble slabs may vary in appearance one with the others, presenting  \nsmall imperfections, veins, small holes, surface inequalities, differences in veins or shades.  \nThe colour depends on the presence of mineral impurities (clay, sand, iron oxides, lime, flint  \nnodules) existing in granules or in layers within the original sedimentary rock or from the process of  \nmetamorphosis of limestone free from impurities. As a natural material, it should be noted that \nimperfections must therefore be considered not as defects but as structural characteristics of the \nproduct itself, which make it unique and inimitable. The finish provides a sanding and polishing \nprocess obtained by using the latest generation of diamond abrasives which gives the surface gre-\nater shine and durability and the matt or glossy appearance according to the choice. To obtain the \nmatt effect, 5 abrasive steps are required, for the glossy effect 8 steps are required. Presenta un fondo rosso-violaceo o nero, \ncontenente macchie (clasti) di colore assai variabile: bianco, rosa, rosso, verde chiaro \no grigio, aventi forma spigolosa, spesso allungata con tendenza all’iso-orientazione, e \ndimensioni da millimetriche a centimetriche. Sono presenti anche venature di colore \ngrigiastro, larghe da alcuni millimetri a pochi centimetri, ad andamento irregolare. Questa \npietra ornamentale possiede notevole eterogeneità nell’aspetto, non solo passando da \nun sito estrattivo all’altro ma anche all’interno della stessa cava. Per questo motivo, con il \nperdurare della coltivazione nelle diverse epoche, si sono succedute varietà del litotipo \ndall’aspetto anche notevolmente differente. I blocchi vanno resinati prima del taglio, in \nmodo da prevenire rotture nelle lastre, le quali vengono resinate nuovamente per riparare  \ndifetti e microfratture.\nBreccia Medicea or Breccia di Seravezza is an historic Apuan marble used in \nnumerous buildings since Roman times. It presents a red-violet or black back-\nground, containing spots (clasts) of different colour: white, pink, red, light \ngreen or grey, having a sharp, often elongated shape of different dimensions.  \nThere are also greyish veins, ranging from a few millimetres to a few centimetres, \nwith an irregular pattern. This ornamental stone has considerable heterogeneity \nin its appearance, not only from one extractive site to another but also on the \nsame quarry. For this reason, with the cultivation in different eras, there have \nbeen varieties of the lithotype with a very different appearance. The wave of the grain changes \ndepending on the slabs. Therefore, you can have areas with marked veins and \nlarges white spaces. Being a sedimentary sandstone marble, it also contains \nvarious types of crystals and grey stones unevenly distributed. It is possible to \nfind pyrite impurities of various colours. Moreover, it presents some superficial \ncracks (“magrosità” minute excoriations of the material).
