combines landmark architecture with a holistic, resource-saving
philosophy that starts with low-energy usage and carries through
to locally-sourced food or even the use of green building materials.

A curiosity: The heating and cooling of the building is warranted by
a ground water fountain and a mechanic ventilation system with
heat recovery. This head forwarded green mentality is transversal
to all the details and provides not only a luxury high end experience
to its guests as well as a comfortable stay.

furnishings and will enjoy the symbiosis of natural materials with
all his senses.
Topazz proves that luxury and sustainable do exist together for the
good and beauty of earth. Designed by award-winning Viennese
architects BWM Architekten & Partner and Architekt DI Michael
Manzenreiter, the hotel pays a tribute to Vienna’s artistic heritage
of the late 19th and early 20th century.
The modern dark façade, dotted with large oval windows, is the
brand image of the boutique hotel and inspires the interior, which
reminded the architect and interior designer of a cylindrical silver
vase gemmed with big oval amber stones by Viennese artist Kolo-
man Moser. He carried on this theme inside and created interiors
that pay homage to Moser and Dagobert Peche, two of Austria’s
most iconic artists of the late 19th and early 20th century.
The 32 guest rooms, set over eight floors and one top-floor pent-
house suite with terrace, feature soft furnishings in earthy shades,
wooden panelling and lush curtains. One-of-a-kind lighting fix-
tures, fauteuils and fabrics are inspired by Wiener Werkstätte – an
early 20th century community of Viennese architects, artists and
designers whose commitment was to design art which would be
accessible to everyone.
The spacious bathrooms are inspired by luxurious 1930s style and
are made using of chrome, nickel, marble and fine china. However,
the oval windows are the true highlight of Topazz’s experience.
Each window has on the inside a divan bed inspired by furniture of
the 1900’s integrated into the windowsill. It works as an observa-
torium of the old city through the modern eye sight of such circular
windows, where you can sit or lay with the incredible view to the
old town centre.
The urban architecture of the house inspires the visitor and seduces
to “capture a moment” in the metropolis. Last but not least, the
staff is noteworthy: they are warm-hearted and friendly.
