AQUARIVA
MARC NEWSON
One of the most important highlights of ‘Aquariva by Marc
Newson’ is that it is Marc’s first fully realised nautical design.
Succeeding its predecessor of 1960, the glamorous Aquarama, the
contemporary Aquariva is the perfect combination of the classic
Italian with a streamlined and futuristic styles, without losing
its characteristic features.
Instead of the traditional mahogany, the deck features a distinctive
and innovative phenolic textile composite, which is a durable
laminate made from linen and resin that made its first appearance
in Marc’s furniture designs in 2007. In addition to this, Aquariva
features anodised aluminium for discreet hooks, cleats, handles, and
holds, a streamlined instrument panel, and a wrap-around laminated
windscreen made from a single sheet of glass.
And if this is still not enough to convince you, wait until you get
to know the modified interior design. It is upholstered in bright
bold colours including a vivid turquoise as an improvement of the
Aquarama’s original tone. Other relevant amenities include separate
driver and passenger seats, and a functional dining area.
To make Aquariva even more coveted, it was custom-built in the
original Riva boatyards in Italy.
