Situated in Leça da Palmeira, the Casa de Chá de Boa Nova restau-
rant is regarded as one of the best gastronomic establishments in
the North of Portugal. It features an audacious and unique archi-
tecture in virtue of the geniality of Álvaro Siza Vieira. CovetED
had the opportunity to experience the energetic atmosphere of
this exclusive venue and converse with Rui Paula, the proficient
chef responsible for the restaurant who is originally from Porto and
whose career speaks for itself.
Casa de Chá da Boa Nova is governed by tradition and a sense of
daringness known in the region. The restaurant presents a modern
and aesthetically appealing design and also provides sweeping sea
views to its guests. It was in 2016 that the restaurant, under the
management of Rui Paula, was awarded its first Michelin star.
The exclusive dining venue specialises in providing the most
scrumptious fish and seafood dishes, presenting three different
degustation menus. According to Paula, “fish allows for
connections” and encompasses a set of memories, whether it is in
regard to the palate or the history of our country, voyages or even
family experiences that improve its value.
