Where to stay:
THE MARCLIFFE HOTEL
The building dates back to 1785 and was the place where famous The Marcliffe is an intimate five-star luxury
hotel, set on scenically beautiful Royal Deeside against a backdrop of 11 acres of wooded grounds, just min-
utes away from Aberdeen’s city centre. As you enter the hotel, you immediately get a feeling of warmth and
comfort offered by the fireplace and very comfortable couches in the lobby. It has welcomed many high profile
guests, from the British Royal Family to foreign dignitaries, Hollywood actors, Rockstars and legendary golfers.
The seven suites and 33 bedrooms, each named after a Scottish castle, are all exclusively designed as a restful,
elegant refuge for both the business and leisure traveller. But it’s the facilities of the Hotel that make it so
unique. The Hotel has a very slick artificial grass putting green for Golf lovers, a Gym and Spa, which we tried
and was one of the best experiences of our Scottish tour, as well as the Conservatory Restaurant, of course,
which offers the best local Scottish cuisine including Scottish Beef, along with fish, lobster and seafood. But
The Drawing Room Bar is something else. It boasts an extensive wine list of over 400 bins, plus over 100 Single
Malt Whiskies and an impressive collection of Scottish Gins. The staff is lovely and the atmosphere warm.
