SECOND STOP
BLANTYRE
On your way to the third destination, Inverness, you have to stop by Blantyre on
the outskirts of Glasgow.
If you love a luxury historical experience like CovetED does, do take time to visit
and stay at the Crossbasket Hotel.
A spectacular 17th-century building with nine palatial bedrooms including a
four-storey bridal tower, opulent public rooms, grand ballroom and fine-dining
restaurant from Albert & Michel Roux Jr.
Although the building is a magnificent castle, the Crossbasket opened its doors
only two years ago, but has already established itself as one of the best hotels in
Scotland and was recently awarded the coveted Best Newcomer or Back on the
Scene Award at the Condé Nast Johansens Annual Awards for Excellence 2016.
Each of the nine en-suite bedrooms is named after a historical custodian of the cas-
tle and finished with stunning period windows, bed dressings and antique furni-
ture. As you drive by the gates of the Hotel, the castle is immediately seen, with a
beautiful garden surrounding it. And when you enter the hotel, you are immersed
in the luxurious feeling of a 17th-century castle, its cosiness and comfort. But the
best comes when you wake up in the morning, open the windows and see a vast
beautiful garden and river right in front of your eyes. So relaxing, so beautiful, so
inspiring!
For dinner, you must try the chef’s menu, a typically Scottish experience we tried
and approved! The selection of international wines was superb and really compli-
mented the wonderful menu.
