Gucci Handcuffs
If you are looking for the perfect gift, it may just be a pair of vintage
Gucci handcuffs, on sale for US$90,000 (€72,468). The cuffs were
designed by Tom Ford in 1998, and according to W magazine, have
an interesting backstory. They were reportedly made when an Ital-
ian socialite was sentenced to 29 years in prison for hiring a hitman
to kill her husband, Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of Gucci founder
Guccio Gucci. The handcuffs were positioned in the window of the
flagship Gucci store in Florence on the day of her conviction - “a
sign, if one were needed, that the world of high fashion has no use
for ugly family feuds, except as a source of dark, sardonic humour”,
wrote The Independent. Back in 2009, a pair was sold by the auction
house Christie’s for about US$2000 (1611€), while another pair is
currently on display at the official Museo Gucci in Florence. With an
adjustable length, they are made of solid silver and come with the
original dust bag and a contemporary Gucci box”.

tirely hand painted, depicting a
competition between Christians
and Moors. The pieces were exe-
cuted based on original drawings
by Jeannine Hetrau, a regular col-
laborator of Vista Alegre in the
50s. Special exclusive edition by
Vista Alegre limited to 500 piec-
es. The chessboard is limited to
250 pieces. The full pack is worth
of €4640 ($5798).
Jaeger-LeCoultre
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original Jae-
ger-LeCoultre Polaris timepiece from 1968, the Swiss
watchmaker has created a tribute watch and intro-
duced it at the 2018 edition of the annual Salon In-
ternational de la Haute Horlogerie. The new limited
edition Polaris Memovox has all the qualities to be
considered as a worthy descendant of one of the true
icons in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s past. The 42mm stainless
steel case of the watch is identical in style and pro-
portions to watch it pays tribute to and houses the
Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 956 – an automatic move-
ment with alarm and date. Only 1000 examples of
the watch will be made available with a price tag of
$12,600 (10,088€) apiece.
