La poltroncina Do-Maru riprende il nome
delle antiche armature dei samurai,
costruite con rigide placche di cuoio
verniciato e decorato che avvolgevano
e proteggevano il corpo dei guerrieri.
Come già per la poltrona girevole
Almora, disegnata da Doshi Levien nel
2014, anche in questo caso il guscio
della seduta è stato realizzato con
una coppia di scocche sovrapposte,
ammorbidite da due controimbottiture
rivestibili in tessuto o in pelle.
Il supporto posteriore, in fusione di
alluminio, sottolinea come un tratto
vigoroso la linea conica della poltroncina,
mentre il supporto anteriore è in tubolare
metallico con finiture verniciato nero,
verniciato cromate nero o verniciato
peltro, che si abbinano ai colori della
scocca: bianca, antracite e tortora.

Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien
The small armchair Do-Maru is named
after the ancient armour worn by samurai
warriors, made up of painted and
decorated thick leather plates that covered
and protected the hero’s body.
Like the swivel armchair Almora, designed
by Doshi-Levien in 2014, once again the
shell of the seat is made up of a couple
of superimposed bodies, softened by
paddings that can be upholstered with
either fabric or leather.
The die-cast aluminium back support
boldly underlines the conical profile of the
small armchair, while the anterior support
is in tubular metal with painted black
chrome, pewter painted or black painted
finishes, studied to match the colours of
the shell: white, anthracite and tortora.
