PALAVELA
Torino
Project by
Gae Aulenti Architetti Associati
THE CONVERSION OF TURIN’S PALAVELA, INTO AN OLYMPIC ICE
STADIUM, IS AN ARCHITECTURAL AND TECHNICAL MASTERPIECE.
SITUATED IN TURIN, THE PALAVELA HAS ALWAYS FASCINATED
VISITORS. THE MAIN BUILDING IS LOCATED WITHIN A 150 M
DIAMETER CIRCLE, AND CONSISTS OF A STRUCTURE RESTING ON
JUST THREE BEARING POINTS. GAE AULENTI HAS SUCCEEDED IN
REVITALISING A TRADITIONAL BUILDING, IN SUCH A MANNER,
THAT IT WILL BE A FUNCTIONING ARCHITECTURAL HIGHLIGHT
IN TURIN FOR MANY DECADES TO COME.
