Giulia Ferraris (1991) è una designer multidisciplinare con un debole per il ‘fatto a mano’ e
gli scenari Mediterranei. Alla base del suo progettare ci sono una narrazione evocativa ed
un’attenta cura per gli aspetti sensoriali.
Diplomata in disegno industriale nel 2013 e affascinata dal design tessile collabora per
cinque anni con la designer olandese Mae Engelgeer, percorso che la appassiona e le
permette di sviluppare competenze tecniche nel settore.
Giulia oggi vive tra Italia e Olanda e lavora come designer indipendente per realtà del
mondo della moda e del design.
Giulia Ferraris (1991) is an Italian multidisciplinary creative with a special attraction towards
crafts and Mediterranean scenarios. An evocative narrative and a keen eye for sensory
perceptions are the roots of her creative process.
Graduated in Industrial Design in 2013 and fascinated by textile design, joins dutch studio
Mae Engelgeer for 5 years, this close collaboration allows her to strengthen field knowledge
and technical expertise.
Giulia lives now between Italy and the Netherlands and works as an independent creative
for fashion and design brands.
Con la collezione Lòbia, Giulia Ferraris racconta la magia della luce che al sorgere e al
calare del sole danza sulle facciate dei palazzi tipicamente mediterranei, trasformandone
l’architettura.
I quattro tappeti Terra, Polvere, Radice e Marmo omaggiano ed evocano rispettivamente
l’alba, il mezzogiorno, il tramonto e l’imbrunire.
Come si trattasse di magnifiche cartoline, ognuno di essi, attraverso le forme, le geometrie
e i colori, riesce a raccontare gli effetti della luce riflessa sugli edifici in ognuno dei quattro
momenti della giornata.
La linea d’orizzonte di un paesaggio urbano è dunque trasportata sui tappeti grazie ad un
gioco di curve, rette e linee prospettiche che ne definiscono i disegni e i contorni.
All’accurata taftatura artigianale si aggiungono l’intaglio e le lavorazioni velluto e bouclé,
ideali per conferire al vello altezze e texture diverse, così da amplificare il sotteso ‘concept
architettonico’ della collezione e donare al tatto un’esperienza materica tridimensionale.
With her collection Lòbia, produced by Carpet Edition, Giulia Ferraris depicts the magic
of the light at dawn and dusk and how the sunlight dances on Mediterranean building
facades, transforming the architecture.
Four rugs - Terra, Polvere, Radice, and Marmo - pay homage and evoke respectively dawn,
midday, sunset and nightfall.
It is as if they are each a magnificent post card, telling a story through shape, form and
color, managing to transmit the effect of the light on the buildings in each of these four
moments of the day.
The horizon line of an urban landscape is transported to these rugs in a play on curves,
lines and perspectives that define the designs and contours.
Add to the artisanal hand tufting the workmanship and carving of the velvet and bouclé,
which together give the pile different heights and textures, amplifying the ‘architectural
concept’ of the collection and making the tactile experience three dimensional.
