Taftatura Manuale
Eccellente alternativa ai pregiati tappeti annodati a mano,
i taftati conservano tutte le caratteristiche di un prodotto
artigianale.
La produzione inizia riportando il disegno del tappeto su
una tela verticale sulla quale viene inserito il filato
attraverso una pistola tessile manuale o elettrica ad aria
compressa. Terminata questa fase il tappeto viene tolto
dalla cornice che reggeva la tela e, dopo essere stato
bruciato e lavato, viene rifinito con un tessuto di cotone
incollato sul retro; la produzione si conclude con la
rimozione delle fibre del vello in eccesso e con la
successiva bordatura del tappeto.
Realizzabile con svariati materiali, la taftatura manuale
permette una scelta illimitata di disegni, forme e colori.
Hand Tufted
A great alternative to fine hand-knotted carpets, hand tufted
ones retain all the characteristics of a handcrafted product.
The production begins by placing the design of the rug on a
vertical canvas where the yarn is inserted through a
manual or electric compressed air textile gun.
At the end of this phase the carpet is removed from the
frame that held the canvas and, after being burned and
washed, is finished with a cotton fabric glued on the back;
the production process ends with the removal of excess
fleece fibers and the subsequent finishing of the carpet.

unlimited choice of designs, shapes and colors.
Annodatura Manuale
Antica lavorazione che si tramanda di generazione in
generazione. Prima di iniziare l’annodatura un artista
disegna e colora il motivo in scala 1:1 su una carta
millimetrata, dove ogni quadrato rappresenta un nodo.
Successivamente gli annodatori, seduti davanti a un telaio
verticale, eseguiranno decine di migliaia di nodi: più alto è
il numero di nodi, maggiore sarà la qualità del tappeto e la
precisione del disegno.
Terminata l’annodatura, il tappeto verrà lavato più volte
per rimuovere la fibra in eccesso e renderla più lucente e
soffice; verrà poi fatto asciugare alla luce del sole.
I tempi di queste operazioni, e di conseguenza i tempi di
produzione, dipendono spesso da fattori climatici non
favorevoli, tipici delle zone monsoniche.
La produzione di un tappeto annodato, dalla cardatura
fino alla sua fase finale, coinvolge una ventina di persone,
ognuna con la propria specializzazione: questo garantisce
la creazione di un prodotto di elevata qualità e destinato a
durare nel tempo.
Hand Knotted
Ancient workmanship that is passed down from generation
to generation.
Before starting the knotting an artist draws and colors the
motif in 1:1 scale on graph paper. Each square
represents a knot. Sitting in front of a vertical frame, the
weavers will execute tens of thousands of knots: the higher
the number of knots, the higher the quality of the rug and the
precision of the design.
After the knotting is completed, the carpet will be washed
several times to remove the excess fiber and make it shinier
and softer; it will then be dried in sunlight.
The time required to complete these operations, and
consequently the overall production time, may be affected
by unfavourable climatic factors, typical of monsoon areas.
The production of a knotted rug, from the carding to its final
phase, involves about twenty people, each with their own
specialization: this ensures the creation of a high quality
product that will last over time.
