VLA61 MONARCH CHAIR
Poetic
functionalism
Vilhelm Lauritzen was a master of detail, creating furniture and fixtures with utmost perfection. The
VLA61 Monarch Chair is named after the majestic Monarch butterfly - a tribute to Vilhelm Lauritzen’s
lifelong interest in butterflies. With its generous padding, double-curved armrests, and organic,
drop-shaped slats, the chair presents an artistic expression that is light and sumptuous at the
same time. Details such as brass-tipped feet and hand-polished joints bear witness to Lauritzen’s
accomplished eye. Brought to life from original sketches, old photographs, and auction descriptions,
the reissued chair is a reverent tribute to Vilhelm Lauritzen’s original design while having been given
a contemporary expression through a clear approach to materials.
