Queda Studio, il design non è solo una professione. Per
entrambi è stato a lungo un modo di guardare il mondo.
Il loro lavoro unisce l’eleganza formale e funzionale con
un approccio sensuale al colore e alla consistenza, e una
sincera convinzione nell’importanza dell’artigianato. Date
queste preoccupazioni sia per la qualità che per il piacere,
potrebbe non essere un caso che sia Ciarmoli che Queda
abbiano lavorato con alcune delle migliori aziende di moda
del mondo.
Ma è anche significativo che queste esperienze alla fine
li abbia portati a una carriera nel design. Visioni, creatività
ed esperienza si traducono in realizzazioni molto precise,
anche grazie alla preziosa rete di artigiani, aziende e artisti -
che incarnano l’eccezionale manifattura Made in Italy - con
cui Simone Ciarmoli e Miguel Queda interagiscono.
Nel 2009 Queda e Ciarmoli iniziano a lavorare insieme; la
loro prima commissione è stata per gli interni di uno yacht,
un’area in cui hanno acquisito una notevole fama. Gli anni
nel mondo della moda hanno offerto loro una transizione
naturale al design, da cui Ciarmoli e Queda hanno tratto
l’importanza della qualità, dei materiali pregiati e della
lavorazione artigianale, che ha una lunga tradizione in Italia.
For Simone Ciarmoli and Miguel Queda, founders of
Ciarmoli Queda Studio, design is not just a profession. For
both of them it has always been a way of looking at the world.
Their work combines formal and functional elegance with a
sensual approach to color and texture, and a sincere belief
in the importance of high-quality craftsmanship. Given these
concerns with both quality and pleasure, it may not be a
coincidence that both Ciarmoli and Queda have worked
with some of the best fashion companies in the world.
But it is also significant that these experiences eventually led
them to a career in design. Their peculiar vision, creativity,
and experience translate into very distinct creations, also
thanks to the precious network of artisans, companies, and
artists — who embody the exceptional quality of Made in Italy
manufacturing — with which Simone Ciarmoli and Miguel
Queda interact.
Queda and Ciarmoli started working together in 2009; their
first commission was to design the interiors of a yacht, an
area in which they have gained considerable fame. The years
they spent in the world of fashion have led them towards a
natural transition to interior design, in which Ciarmoli and
Queda have brought the importance of quality, precious
materials, and craftsmanship, all of which have a long-
standing tradition in Italy.
Davide Montanaro, cuneese ma milanese d’adozione
classe 1972, si occupa di industrial design dal 2000. La
sua attività di progettista spazia in vari mondi dell’industrial
design: dalla progettazione di sistemi di allaccio per scarpe
da trekking a sistemi modulari per librerie, da lampade a
stand espositivi passando attraverso prodotti per bookshop
museali. Caratteri distintivi della sua attività sono la ricerca
ed il trasferimento di materiali e tecnologie da diversi settori
industriali. In dicembre 2018 lo studio ha ricevuto il premio
come miglior prodotto, migliore creatività ed il premio
della critica al prestigioso IAI Design Award a Shanghai. In
passato ha ricevuto la segnalazione d’onore al Compasso
d’oro per un sistema di ganci per scarpe da trekking, ideato
per Sammi Export.
Davide Montanaro, born in 1972 in Cuneo, has lived and
worked in Milan since 2000, dedicating his activity to
industrial design. His professional activity is wide-ranging:
from the design of connection systems for trekking
shoes to modular systems for bookcases, from lamps to
exhibition stands, passing through products for museum
bookshops. The most distinctive features of his activity are
the research and the transfer of materials and technologies
across different industrial sectors. In December 2018 his
studiodsgn received awards for best product, best creativity,
and the critic’s award at the prestigious IAI Design Award in
Shanghai. In the past he received the “honorable mention”
at the Compasso d’Oro award, for a system of closing hooks
for trekking shoes, designed for Sammi Export.
