BONBORI
The very first outdoor light in the brokis portfolio,
bonbori was created by world-renowned Japanese
designer Fumie shibata, who took inspiration from
the traditional paper lamps that line the paths to
shrines and temples during the annual paddy harvest
festivals in Japan. in Japanese, the word ‘bonbori’ not
only denotes this traditional form of illumination, but
it also describes the soft light coming from within
a snowy cave. Manufactured with an iP44 rating for
outdoor use, the light stands upon a simple stainless-
steel base with weather-resistant powder coating.
The easily removable LED light source, which can
withstand below-freezing temperatures, casts its
gentle glow through a handblown triplex opal diffusor
and laser-cut openings in the stainless steel. The like-
ness to the traditional bonbori lamp is completed
with an elegant shade, an extraordinary piece crafted
from multiple layers of carefully blown glass. bonbori
now also comes in a dedicated wall variant and
a portable interior variant. Whether in the garden, on
the terrace, or inside the home, the soothing light of
bonbori pays tribute to a Japanese tradition by creat-
ing a unique and festive ambience to be enjoyed as
thoroughly in solitude as with family and friends.
