Bocci is a design studio and manufacturer based in Vancouver, Canada.
Experimentation, collaboration, and hands-on making fuel every object
we produce. Our team — glassblowers, metalworkers, chemists, sculptors,
designers, architects, and engineers — exchange skills and knowledge to
extend the possibilities of form.
We are a fluid and elastic group of thinkers and explorers. Our ongoing
pursuit is to capture our materials mid-transformation — in the act of
cooling, in the act of exploding, in the act of changing form. The material
metamorphosis is the piece, with the resulting artefacts emerging
secondary to these chemical reactions. Each collector of a Bocci object
is invited to join this process.
Glass, copper, steel, concrete, wood, fire, air, electricity. These are
what we work and play with. The material discoveries our team makes
through collaboration are our products. Form emerges from what we call
‘constrained chance’: we might set the frameworks, but the materials act
out their own will — often surprising us.
The products we choose to manufacture — each at its own chosen pace
— are punctuation marks in Bocci’s ongoing study of cause and effect.
