A LEGO for architects
A sofa system providing almost unlimited options. 2016, Johan Lindau, CEO and design
manager for Blå Station, challenged designers Thomas Bernstrand & Stefan Borselius with a
question: Would it be possible to make a modular sofa that allows maximum flexibility with
a minimum of components? And at a reasonable price? We wanted the sofa system to fit all
spaces, from the airport, via the hotel to the office and home, and it would need to be
produced and transported smartly and sustainably with quality down to the smallest detail.
The BOB journey started in 2017 with 6 moulded parts combined into 10 sections and is
now a sofa system that provides almost unlimited options, constructed with the minimum
number of modules possible. BOB is an easy to understand and extremely flexible sofa
system. Where conventional sofas are usually rectangular, square and predictable, BOB
offers the architectural freedom to either challenge or adhere to any type of space.
