MAKHANA
The gregarious Gorgon plant plays host to bright and beautiful plumes, but a look beyond its perennial blossoms
reveals a barbed coat of armour loaded with sharpened lances. Known locally as Makhana, the giant quilted
leaves of this aqueous character cloak a fierce morning star lurking below the water’s surface. With the plant’s
armament in mind, we arrived at the design for the Makhana ceiling light, solid brass rods and bubbled glass
domes coordinate to create an impressive showstopper.
