Very compact and efficient ceiling luminaires: The symmetrical
light distribution is comparable to the light cone of a floodlight and
is available with three different light characteristics. Luminaires
with asymmetrical light distribution are used to illuminate wall
surfaces. Their light characteristics and architectural applications
are comparable to those of the recessed ceiling luminaires on
Pages 31 and 33. However, the installation of these luminaires
requires much less effort as they are surface-mounted. Their clear
geometric shapes create highlights for the interior design theme.

The half beam angle β describes the size of the light cone with which an object or surface is actually illuminated. Luminaires
with wider half beam angles should be chosen for short lighting distances, a focused light is recommended for larger distances.
