Built in the late 18th century, Can Llimona was
designed as a traditional “masia”, the typical
rural structure found across Catalonia, originally
featuring three floors dedicated to precise
functions that included space for livestock,
housing and a granary. Bought by Spanish
artist Joan Llimona in the 19th century, over the
years the building has evolved, with influences
from Catalan Modernism in 1909, and a
subtly contemporary intervention which was
completed eighty years later by BD Barcelona
co-founder Lluís Clotet, in collaboration with
Jose Antonio Martínez de la Peña.
