MULLER VAN SEVEREN
Muller Van Severen was founded in
2011 by Belgian artist duo Fien Muller
and Hannes Van Severen. They
emphasise the natural beauty of
materials through a balance of design
and art, translating ideas into different
concepts, mediums and scales.
OSCAR TUSQUETS
Oscar Tusquets describes himself
as an architect by training, a designer
by adaptation, a painter by vocation,
and a writer through the desire to
make friends. Born in Barcelona in
1941, Oscar Tusquets graduated as
an architect in 1965 from Barcelona’s
Escuela Técnica Superior de
Arquitectura and was a member of
Studi Per, together with Pep Bonet,
Cristian Cirici, Lluís Clotet, and Mireia
Riera. In 1972, they founded BD
together, and Tusquets set about
designing furniture and other objects,
which would be recognised by the
Spanish National Design Award.
A number of his pieces appear in
renowned museum collections, such
as the MoMA in New York and the
Centre George Pompidou in Paris.
He has also been honoured with the
Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas
Artes (Gold Medal for Merit in the
Fine Arts), the insignia of Chevalier de
l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight
of the Order of the Arts and Letters)
and the Creu de Sant Jordi (Cross
of Sant Jordi). Since the ‘90s, he has
published books on a wide range of
design-related topics.
OTTO CANALDA
Otto Canalda is a designer with a
contemporary style and technical
prowess.
Born in Barcelona in 1977, Otto
Canalda graduated from Barcelona’s
Elisava School of Design and later
joined the product development
team at BD. He works closely with
our creative director, Ramon Úbeda,
collaborating on some of our favorite
projects, focusing on furniture design
and lighting. He also collaborated with
Dr Jordi Badia on the highly successful
Binaria stool.
PEPE CORTÉS
Pepe Cortés has a unique design
language that refines objects to their
elemental level. He was involved in
iconic interior design projects and
co-founded the Open Design Group
during the early 1970s. Cortés has
won numerous awards and is the
designer of the BD favourite, the
Jamaica stool.
RAMÓN ÚBEDA
Ramon Úbeda is a Spanish architect,
writer and designer, moving between
diverse fields with great skill and
creative prowess.
Ramón Úbeda was born in Jaén
in 1962, trained as an architect,
and is a writer, designer and editor.
Editing publications such as De
Diseño and Ardi and working with
numerous others, Úbeda has a broad
career informed by comprehensive
experience in various fields. He began
working with BD in 1997 as a graphic
designer and, from 2001 to 2022,
was the creative director of furniture
design. He has curated projects and
exhibitions for Fundación Signes and
FAD, collaborated with Camper and
ArtQuitect, and also still operates as a
designer, both graphic and industrial,
creating furniture, household objects
and lighting for companies like Rapsel,
Metalarte, ABR and Mosaics Martí
and BD.
RONAN BOUROULLEC
Born in rural Brittany in 1971, Ronan
Bouroullec lives and works in Paris,
France, and is a 21st-century design
icon. He has produced exceptionally
inviting and innovative designs
since the 1990s and his creativity
has earned him a global reputation,
with his exquisite designs and art
produced, exhibited, and appreciated
across the globe.
SABINE MARCELIS
Sabine Marcelis is a New Zealand-
born Dutch designer. She has worked
in product, installation and spatial
design since 2011, focusing on pure
forms and their materiality. Her
designs are meticulously refined
and appreciated internationally,
with commercial and fashion clients
around the world. She makes
experiences and forms with a
sensorial quality.
SERBAN IONESCU
Serban Ionescu is a Romanian artist
known for using bold colours and
shifting organic forms to transform
functional everyday objects into
expressive artworks. His work spans
across sculpture, painting, design,
and architecture, weaving each
practice into the other to challenge
perceptions of space and utility.2.
STEPHEN BURKS
Stephen Burks blurs the line between
industrial manufacturing and
artisanal design. He uses authentic
craft traditions and contemporary
methods, producing products,
furniture, lighting, and exhibitions for
his studio, Man Made.
WILLO PERRON
Born in Montreal, Willo Perron has
gained worldwide recognition for
his work as a creative director and
designer, specializing in audiovisual
content, video production and design.
He's known for creating solid concepts
and unique realizations that catch
the eye. After working at Apple, he
founded his company, Willo Perron
and Associates. His multidisciplinary
studio, Perron-Roettinger, which he
co-founded with Brian Roettinger, has
worked for brands such as Adidas and
Stussy, and their designs have been
showcased at numerous international
fairs. Perron's designs are recognized
for their use of scale, simplicity of
forms and the use of space, which
plays a crucial role in shaping the final
form of his designs.
XAVIER MAÑOSA
Xavier Mañosa is a Spanish
ceramist and designer known for
his innovative approach to merging
modern industrial techniques with
ancient artisanal traditions. His work
reinterprets everyday objects through
a contemporary and intriguing lens,
finding inspiration in the creative
process itself. Mañosa strives to find
a balance between material, process,
and function in each piece he creates.
