È l’albergo più antico di Capri, costruito nel 1822, noto per
aver ospitato artisti e intellettuali da tutto il mondo, poeti,
scrittori, pittori e musicisti, attratti dalla sua atmosfera tranquilla
e tipicamente mediterranea. Dal 2023 è entrato a far parte
della Oetker Collection, come primo Masterpiece Hotel in
Italia. Curata dal designer Francis Sultana, la ristrutturazione
ha catturato la caratteristica essenzialità e luminosità delle
architetture capresi, aggiungendo agli interni dei riferimenti agli
anni ‘50 dell’isola e a “La dolce vita” di Fellini. A pochi passi
dalla celebre Piazzetta, l’albergo oggi conta 50 camere, di cui
18 suite, tutte con balcone o terrazza privata. Barovier&Toso
illumina con raffinata eleganza alcuni degli spazi comuni
dell’hotel. L’eccentrica scala che conduce ai piani superiori è
annunciata da una lampada a soffitto Excelsior, realizzata con
la tecnica “rugiada”, che preziosamente schiude le sue foglie
in cristallo veneziano oro. Per i locali del bar e del ristorante
Gennaro's, guidato dal pluristellato Chef Gennaro Esposito,
Barovier&Toso ha fatto realizzare delle applique su misura,
in verde e oro, disegnate dallo stesso Sultana, che ha voluto
fondere tra loro elementi delle collezioni Vertigo, Degas e 4607.
Così facendo, è nato un prodotto completamente nuovo, in
esclusiva per L’Hotel La Palma. Analoga operazione è stata fatta
per il lampadario che domina il ristorante, originale sintesi delle
collezioni Vertigo, Degas, 4607 e Windsor. Il verde è un altro
protagonista dell’albergo, riccamente arredato con piante e fiori
freschi, esaltati, nella lobby, dalla tridimensionalità scultorea dei
vasi Bolloni, in cristallo veneziano oro.

Hotel La Palma
It is the oldest hotel in Capri, built in 1822, renowned for hosting
artists and intellectuals from around the world, including poets,
writers, painters, and musicians, drawn by its serene and
quintessentially Mediterranean atmosphere. Since 2023, it has
been part of the Oetker Collection as the first Masterpiece Hotel
in Italy. The renovation, curated by designer Francis Sultana,
has captured the characteristic simplicity and brightness of
Capri's architecture, adding references to the island's 1950s
and Fellini's "La Dolce Vita" to the interiors. Just a few steps
from the famous Piazzetta, the hotel now boasts 50 rooms,
including 18 suites, all with private balconies or terraces.
Barovier&Toso elegantly illuminates some of the hotel's
common areas. The eccentric staircase leading to the upper
floors is heralded by an Excelsior ceiling light, crafted with the
“rugiada” technique, which magnificently unfolds its Venetian
crystal gold leaves. For the bar and Gennaro's restaurant, led by
the multi-starred Chef Gennaro Esposito, Barovier&Toso has
created custom wall sconces in green and gold, designed by
Sultana, who merged elements from the Vertigo, Degas, and
4607 collections. This resulted in a completely new product,
exclusive to Hotel La Palma. A similar approach was taken
for the chandelier that dominates the restaurant, an original
synthesis of the Vertigo, Degas, 4607, and Windsor collections.
Green is another highlight of the hotel, richly decorated with
plants and fresh flowers, showcased in the lobby by the
sculptural three-dimensionality of Bolloni vases in Venetian
crystal gold.
