Disegnare un tavolo essenziale, che si distingua
per i suoi particolari. Quella che sembra una
contraddizione in termini - l’essenzialità e
il particolare distintivo - è stata risolta da
Mangiarotti con il semplice accostamento
di due estrusi a “L”, che si trasformano in “T”
e con un solo taglio a 45°: il tavolo come lo
avrebbe disegnato un bambino si trasforma
così in un oggetto visivamente raffinato e
sospeso e in un prodotto strutturalmente
solido e leggero.
To design an essential table that stands out for
its details. What might seem like a contradiction
in terms - the essential and the distinctive
detail - has been resolved by Mangiarotti by
means of the simple combination of two “L”
shaped extrusions that become a “T” with a
single 45° cut: the table as a child would draw
it is thus transformed into a visually refined
and suspended object, and a structurally
solid, light product.
