This is a roll arm lounge chair in the chippendale style. Tight
serpentine back over a loose seat. marlborough legs with an
extraordinarily decorative pierced stretcher.
in the period, an arm chair of this nature would have been not only
fashionable but an unusual luxury. While the stretcher offers a hint
of chinese chippendale design, it also introduces what we now
recognize as a post modern element that — in the right fabric — might
allow this otherwise traditional form in a contemporary scheme.
