a writing chair designed by thomas hope. curved wood frame
with a tight back and a tufted seat. detailed carved lion mask, body
and feet. a striking hand - carved anthemion draws the eye to the
back, and an intricate carved scroll wraps the base.
this regency masterpiece resides at the romantic bayham abbey,
home to the marquess of camden. the colorful lord michael was
both an author and a well-known collector. this best of kind pull - up
chair speaks to his taste for the dramatic. circa 1820.
