a best - of - kind Wing chair with a tufted fan back, scrolled
arms and a formidable tufted seat. cabriole front legs.
Pad feet.
the original resides at chatsworth — the home of the
duke and duchess of devonshire and widely hailed as
one of the seven treasure houses in all of england. a
handsome wing chair with a daring profile. easily floated
in a large room, possibly in pairs. ideal in a study, den or
even behind a desk. circa 1730.

a deep irish regency chair with the depth exaggerated by
unusual saber legs and a rolled back. button back with
a fluted frame, scrolled arms and caned sides. kidney
pillow. brass cap and caster.
appropriately, this chair owes to the earl of longford and
what is now a family of very popular authors. the original
still resides at tullynally castle, itself a gothic fantasy
of the highest order. a statement pull-up chair for any
traditional room. circa 1805.
