It seems like only yesterday, but ten years have already passed since the launch of the Tufty-Time seating system, inspired by the creativity of Patricia Urquiola. It was 2005, and the designer said, “I wanted to take a new look at the Capitonné and Chesterfield styles, with a special emphasis on the reinterpretations of 1960s and 70s, which I love”.
Tufty-Time succeeded in its intention, combining traditional shapes with a freer, more informal lifestyle that translates into extremely versatile configurations. The modular system is built around an ottoman, a basic unit that is joined by central, corner and terminal elements with high or low armrests. The result is a 360° seating solution with traditional linear sofas, chaises longues and corner and island units.
The result was one of the company’s greatest successes - not only an homage to past designs but also a skilful expression of the concepts of modularity, comfort and removable covers, created with the energy of a truly innovative spirit.
Tufty-Time ‘15 celebrates this achievement, featuring a new textile version. With their large squares and kick pleat, the covers create an undeniably contemporary look.
