LoT
DMX
The LoT is an DMX RDM enabled device.
DMX stands for Digital Multiplex. It is simply a
standard system of controlling lighting equipment and
accessories.
The Remote Device Management or RDM is a
protocol enhancement to USITT DMX512 and
enables the bi-directional communication between a
lighting controller and the connected RDM devices
over a standard DMX line, for simple, convenient
commissioning. The protocol allows the configuration
(setting of the start address, patching, load
personalities), status monitoring, firmware update and
management of these devices.
The wiring infrastructure for DMX has been precisely
defined and all installers must follow these rules. Pls
refer to the Artemide DMX Brochure for detailed
information.
The LoT fixtures can be controlled with Standard
DMX controllers (not RDM enabled) as the DSC30
NL19030 or the DSC60 NL19081.The setup of
the parameters has to be carried out with a RDM
controller during or before the installation.
For smaller installations with small quantities,
Artemide offers the possibility for a pre-setup
(addressing,…) of the DMX RDM fixtures.
Artemide offers the on-site support for the RDM
setup and the programming of the system. Refer to
the technical department of Artemide SpA for further
information or assistance.
At the beginning of every DMX line there must be a single DMX
controller / transmitter.
This can have a max. of 32 standard devices connected over a max.
cable length of 300m in a multi-drop bus topology commonly called
a “daisy chain”.
The last DMX512 Output needs to be terminated with a 120 ohms
resistor joining pins + and -.
If more devices are required then a DMX splitter should be used.
The output of a DMX splitter is considered a new DMX line, with the
same rules applying.
At the end of each DMX line a terminator should be fitted.
DMX fixtures are linked by ‘daisy-chaining’ cables; Y-Splits are not
possible.
Pls. use RDM enabled DMX splitter for RDM light fixtures.
