Artemide S.p.A. always develops its products with special attention to the flexibility
of using all possible innovations in the field of LEDs. Many are in fact the variety of
components available on the market, each with its own peculiar characteristics and
suitable for different purposes.
Artemide designs and makes all the LED circuits necessary to turn on the product and
its proper operation in time, in order to prevent any problem and quickly restore any
possible defect.
The types of LED used are, among the most important:
• 5mm LED, which offer the highest average life span with intermediate light levels;
• SMD-LED, which allow to minimize the size while maintaining good values
of luminous flux;
• Power LED, characterized by wide choice of power and luminous flux and high life
expectancy;
• multi-chip LED, characterized by high power, up to over 20W per module, with high
luminous flux.
Artemide realizes its circuits with power signals in constant current or
constant voltage, equivalent respectively to a connection in series or in parallel of the
products. For the correct selection of the transformer or power supply required for
operation of the lighting, it is recommended to follow these guidelines:
Characteristics of LED and components
Artemide offers the possibility to use dimmable systems (1-10V, PUSH button, DALI)
or home automation control and lighting management systems by means of specific
drivers or ad-hoc solutions. The dimming of the LED allows you to create user-
controlled lighting scenarios and adjust the brightness for better viewing comfort.
Artemide is able to customize and tailor their products to meet the various design
requirements, thanks to the electronic control and the flexibility in the choice of

Power calculation for transformers
To properly select the transformer necessary for the electrical installation, it is sufficient
to sum up the power values of each fixture, expressed in VA (Volt Ampere), as
indicated in the catalogue and to select a transformer with a rated power 20% higher
than the resulting total power value.

Power calculation for electronic driver with constant tension
To properly select the driver necessary for the electrical installation, it is sufficient to
sum up the power values of each fixture, expressed in W (Watt), as indicated in the
catalogue, and to select a ballast with a rated power 20% higher than the resulting
total power value.
