What does IKI mean? It is a Japanese word which is very difficult to translate
into any foreign language. IKI is at the same time striving for uniqueness,
desire to learn and experience which does not lead to boredom with life but,
on the contrary, to constant fascination with it. It is also about reaching
balance and avoiding exaggeration.
IKI is also defined as beauty, elegance or coquetry. Neither of these terms
fully gives an essence of the IKI meaning but they all show some of its
aspects. IKI is life, breathing and pride.
“Light requires an ap-
propriate setting and
going beyond the usual
pattern. IKI is an excel-
lent example of achieving
harmony on the basis of
changing relationships.”
- says Andrzej Klisz,
the designer of the IKI.
