PINWORM HOLES
Solid wood planks may have small holes in them that differ in
terms of quantity and size. These holes are not caused by wo-
odworm but by an insect that makes the hole in the tree when
it is still alive. No insects (woodworm) are now present that may
damage the wood. Pinworm holes may not be evenly distributed
throughout the product and may vary in terms of their extent and
quantity. The dark colour of the holes confirms that they were
present before the tree was felled and before the planks were
processed. These holes are – in fact - proof of the genuine and
natural origins of our solid wood. See photo A.
FLAMES, KNOTS
We guarantee that we use solid wood planks for our products;
the specific features of this wood are its flames and knots.

Cracks and knots may be filled in or left as they are; the best way
to set off the unique properties of the wood is decided when the
product is being finished. The colour of the filler changes depen-
ding on the chosen finish. The knots in the product vary in terms
of size and quantity. We assess these features using our common
sense and following good forest stewardship principles in terms
of limiting waste to a minimum.
BORDO IRREGOLARE, RABUFFO E SPECCHIATURE
Il bordo irregolare è ricavato dalla naturale forma del perimetro
del tronco, ogni singola tavola è unica e irripetibile, nella forma
e nel colore. Le irregolarità del bordo non possono essere alte-
rate, ne conseguono sagomature sempre diverse con stonaliz-
zazioni molto variabili. La superfice del bordo può presentare
macchie di colore chiaro scuro anche molto evidenti alternate
dalla presenza di alburno. Tutti particolari che rendono incon-
fondibile un prodotto in legno massiccio. Vedi foto E.
IRREGULAR EDGE
Irregular edges depend on the perimeter of the tree trunk and
give each plank a unique and unrepeatable shape and colour.
Irregular edges cannot be altered and this gives rise to shapes
that are always different, accompanied by very variable shades of
colour. The surface of the edge may feature very noticeable dark
and light colour patches alternated by sapwood. All these details
make a solid wood product unmistakable. See photos E.
TANNINO
È un composto polifenolico presente in natura e contenuto an-
che nel legno di rovere. La presenza di questa sostanza può
generare dei cambiamenti di colore nella superficie dei piani in
legno massello. Non si tratta di macchie o aloni.
TANNIN
This is a polyphenolic compound present in nature and also con-
tained in oak wood. The presence of this substance may cause
changes in the colour of the surface of solid wood tops. These are
neither stains nor rings.

Il tavolame massiccio è caratterizzato dalla presenza di svariati
toni di colore che nell’insieme rendono unica e inconfondibile

DIFFERENCES IN TONES AND UNEVEN COLOURING
Solid wood planks is characterised in various shades of colour
which, when used together, make each of our creations unique
and unmistakable. See photo D.
SMALL CLEFTS AND CRACKS
Using solid wood planks can result in small clefts and cracks that
are due to the natural movements of wood.
Some small cracks may appear as time goes by but these do not
jeopardise the quality or durability of the product in any way at all.
