Una collezione che rappresenta un primato
reale all’interno della ricerca di Angelo
Mangiarotti sui sistemi costruttivi progettati
per l’arredamento.
Asolo, come i precedenti Eros e Incas, è un
tavolo interamente realizzato in un unico
materiale, ma dove le gambe non sono più
volumi possenti come veri e propri “pilastri”,
ma semplici lastre dello stesso spessore del
piano, disposte leggermente divaricate così da
aumentare la stabilità della struttura. Ancora
una volta è la “gravità” (tanto cara a Mangiarotti),
e quindi il peso degli elementi, a determinare
la resistenza strutturale dell’insieme: la
forma trapezoidale delle gambe, sulle quali si
innesta il piano, determina il suo bloccaggio
verticale alla posizione definita, attraverso un
incastro a secco delle gambe in apposite
“asole” del piano.
Inizialmente previsto in granito per sfruttare le
eccezionali resistenze meccaniche del
materiale, viene realizzato oggi in marmi
e finiture differenti.
A collection that represents a real primacy
within Angelo Mangiarotti’s research on
construction systems designed for furniture.
Asolo, like the previous Eros and Incas, is a
table entirely made of a single material, but
where the legs are no longer powerful volumes
serving as real “pillars”, but are instead simple
slabs of the same thickness of the top, arranged
slightly apart so as to increase the stability
of the structure.
Once again it is “gravity” (so dear to Mangiarotti),
and therefore the weight of the elements, to
determine the structural strength of the whole:
the trapezoidal shape of the legs, upon which
the top is grafted, determines its vertical locking
to the defined position, through a dry joint
interlocking of the legs in the special
“buttonholes” of the top.
Initially designed in granite to take advantage
of the exceptional mechanical resistance
of the material, it is now made of marble
and various finishes.
