From \nParis to London, Teheran to Moscou, listed buildings, \nluxury hotels and private homes are decorated with \nbanisters, gates, screens or lanterns drawn, made or \nrestored in the Bourbonnais-based workshops. In France, \nthis is so for the gates of the CHÂTEAU DE VERSAILLES, \nthe banisters and lights in the hall of the MUSÉE DES \nBEAUX ARTS, PLACE STANISLAS in Nancy or the lights \nin the gardens of the CHÂTEAU DE FONTAINEBLEAU.\nIn the Sixties, spurred on by Henri Pouenat, the then \ncreator, the company would transfer its expertise from \nbuildings to decoration. And that is when THE LIGHT \nFITTINGS AND FURNITURE FOR THE LINER LE FRANCE \nwere tailor-made along with pieces for the UN in Geneva \nand the Hôtel Concorde in Paris.\nPouenat has now become a real design consultant and \nmakes its expertise available to architects and interiors \ndesigners to carry out their decoration and layout projects. \nIt works with steel, aluminium, stainless steel, copper, \nbronze and brass and with these combines glass, wood, \nceramics, stone, staff or fabric for places as prestigious \nas some palaces (PLAZA ATHÉNÉE, HOTELS MEURICE \nAND THOUMIEUX), luxury boutiques (BALMAIN AND \nDIOR BOUTIQUES). Each piece made in the workshop \nis unique as far as its shape, appearance, function and \nhistory are concerned.\nThe «Enterprise of Living Heritage» (EPV) label awarded \nby the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Employment \nconfirms the excellence and rarity of its expertise.\nArchitect-designers and Editor Pouenat come together at \nthe height of metalworking.\nTaken over by Jacques Rayet in 1995, Pouenat made a \nhuge change in 2003. It extended its classic workshop \nactivities to include the edition of light fittings and \nfurniture created by renowned architect-designers, \nprestigious hallmarks for exceptional pieces of bold, \ncontemporary design. This spectacular rebirth has earned \nit recognition in both France and the world.\nToday, Pouenat is one of the rare art editors in the \nmetalworking trade. Still working out of Moulins where \nit employs twenty-five craftsmen and employees, it is in \nParis, in its gallery in the heart of Saint-Germain des Prés, \nthat the quintessence of its collections
