We chose the stone that is \nclosest to the heart of the earth: the \nlava stone. We work with this stone, \nfinding its complex identity and \nexpressing its power in every creation.\nThis stone is quarried in blocks and \nslabs and expresses its geologic \nnature and its intrinsic qualities \nthrough the various compactness \nand uniformities in appearance and \ntextures. Si tratta di \nuna roccia effusiva formatasi per \nfusione dal magma che si solidifica \na contatto con l’aria. Alla vista ha \nuna caratteristica cromia intensa e \nscura, dal punto di vista fisico il suo \nrequisito primario è la resistenza, \ncome testimonia il nome stesso \nbasalto, dal latino basanites “roccia \nmolto dura”. \nOggi tale prerogativa è nei nostri \nprocessi di lavorazione valorizzata \ne portata all’estremo con processi \ndi cottura che arrivano fino a 1.000 \ngradi. L’inquietudine e l’intensità \ndella lavica, il suo carattere mitico \ne alchemico, sono aspetti di questa \nmagia solida che indaghiamo \ncostantemente attraverso la nostra \nricerca espressiva soprattutto in\nchiave contemporanea.\nEtna’s Lava stone, or Etnean basalt, \ncomes from the volcanic fire. \nThe appeal of this stone is a mixture \nof physical and cultural traits given \nby its provenance from one of the \nmost iconic places in the world, \nwhere the geological activity is \ncontinuous. It is an effusive rock, \nwhich means that it is created by \nthe magma that solidifies in contact \nwith the air. It has a characteristic \nand intense dark colour. Noi ne apprezziamo \nla possente bellezza e la texture \nporosa. Negli anni abbiamo raffinato \nla ricerca tecnica individuando \ntrattamenti che rendono la superficie \nsimile alla tessitura di una tela su \ncui intervenire con colori e pennelli. \nLa naturale porosità della pietra \npermette di ottenere un effetto\ncrackle morbido e pervasivo \nregalando alle superfici il fascino \ndel vissuto e mantenendo la \nbrillantezza dei colori. Scegliendo \nquesta pietra perseguiamo una \nqualità di lavorazione molto elevata \ncon una definizione estetica spesso \nlibera da imperfezioni. Il peperino è \nla pietra privilegiata per le creazioni \ndella linea classica.\nPeperino is a magmatic rock \nof volcanic origin, created from \n200000 to 20000 years ago in the \nItalian areas of Viterbo and Colli \nAlbani. Its name comes from the \nLatin “piper”, that means “pepper” \nbecause of the presence of biotite \nin small black grains, from where its \nparticular appearance comes. \nThe peperino we use, comes from \nVitorchiano and Soriano nel Cimino \nand it’s a strong material, suitable \nfor many uses and used since the \nPalaeolithic age. The secret of its \nbeauty is the porous texture. \nBy the years, we refined our \ntechnical research and found new \ntreatments to make the surface of \nthe stone similar to the texture of a \ncanvas and suitable to be painted. \nThe natural porosity of the peperino \nbrings out a soft crackle effect that \ndonates a charm while keeping \nthe brightness of the colours to the \nsurfaces. Con la famiglia dei decori \nLuxury abbiamo dato un’impronta \n“made in Domiziani” anche alla linea \ntradizionale con particolari decori \nnon contornati e un’interessante \nsfocatura acquarellata.\nWe inherited the traditional \ndecorative techniques of the \ncraftsmanship from Deruta and at \nthe same time we have always run \nan artistic and personal research \non the designs and their aesthetic \nrelationship with the object. \nThe traditional line of our designs \nhas a clear figurative imprint: \nhand-painting is a fundamental \nfeature. Within this line, it is easy \nto find familiar standards such as \n“Raffaellesco” or “Ricco Deruta” \nor the use of subjects like fruit or \nflowers. Through the Luxury Family \nof designs, we gave a “made in \nDomiziani” touch to the traditional \nline too, through non-outlined \ndesigns and interesting watercolor \neffects.\nL’ambito di sperimentazione e di \navanguardia dove esprimiamo \ncon vigore il nostro estro è offerto \ndalla linea contemporanea dei \ndecori astratti.
