An evocative narrative and a keen eye for sensory\nperceptions are the roots of her creative process.\nGraduated in Industrial Design in 2013 and fascinated by textile design, joins dutch studio \nMae Engelgeer for 5 years, this close collaboration allows her to strengthen field knowledge\nand technical expertise.\nGiulia lives now between Italy and the Netherlands and works as an independent creative\nfor fashion and design brands.\nCon la collezione Lòbia, Giulia Ferraris racconta la magia della luce che al sorgere e al \ncalare del sole danza sulle facciate dei palazzi tipicamente mediterranei, trasformandone \nl’architettura.\nI quattro tappeti Terra, Polvere, Radice e Marmo omaggiano ed evocano rispettivamente \nl’alba, il mezzogiorno, il tramonto e l’imbrunire. \nCome si trattasse di magnifiche cartoline, ognuno di essi, attraverso le forme, le geometrie \ne i colori, riesce a raccontare gli effetti della luce riflessa sugli edifici in ognuno dei quattro \nmomenti della giornata. \nLa linea d’orizzonte di un paesaggio urbano è dunque trasportata sui tappeti grazie ad un \ngioco di curve, rette e linee prospettiche che ne definiscono i disegni e i contorni. \nAll’accurata taftatura artigianale si aggiungono l’intaglio e le lavorazioni velluto e bouclé, \nideali per conferire al vello altezze e texture diverse, così da amplificare il sotteso ‘concept \narchitettonico’ della collezione e donare al tatto un’esperienza materica tridimensionale.\nWith her collection Lòbia, produced by Carpet Edition, Giulia Ferraris depicts the magic \nof the light at dawn and dusk and how the sunlight dances on Mediterranean building \nfacades, transforming the architecture.  \nFour rugs - La luce, girandole intorno, sceglie quale lato mostrarne. Nelle vie di quei \nborghi, circondata da pareti di pietra, tufo o marmo, mi sentivo dentro \nun teatro di sfumature, dove le ombre si trascinano deformate e tinte \npiù profonde e scure sostituiscono quelle dorate e vibranti del tramonto, \ndiventando sera.”\nLA SERA\nThese are the words which Giulia Ferraris uses to describe the third and fourth \npieces of the Lòbia collection.\nThe tones of Radice and Marmo evoke nighttime landscapes, where the light hit \nbuildings and sacred sites. \nRadice with its warm and dark tones, recalls the hues with which the sunset paints \nthe city, while Marmo, with its nuances that lean towards blue, remind us of the light \nat dusk.\nLòbia is therefore the story of a Mediterranean day articulated in four moments, \neach of which, together with an architectural “imprint”, is the protagonist of a specific \ncarpet.\n“I picture architecture as an immobile spectator of time that passes. \nThe light, moving around it, chooses what side to highlight.
