Andrew Kotchen and Matthew Berman, soci \nfondatori di workshop\u002Fapd iniziano la loro carriera in due ambienti profondamente diversi tra \nloro. Nella pigra ma sofisticata città di mare di Nantucket in Massachussetts  e contempora-\nneamente nella frenetica realtà urbana di New York.  Lavorare in Nantucket significa dover \nsviluppare il gusto per il classico vernacolo con viali ricoperti di ghiaia e ciottoli, quindi un’isola \nimmersa nella storia. Siamo affascinati dall’idea che ogni edificio narra \nuna storia, e che ogni storia abbia diverse implicazioni so-\nciali, economiche e di vita vissuta. Gli edifici se non guar-\ndati in modo convenzionale, rappresentano uno spaccato \ndella cultura, dell’identità del luogo. Sono in parte arte, in \nparte storia ed in parte politica. Sono il diario di un viag-\ngio. La nostra ambizione è che il design da noi proposto \nincontri e soddisfi i bisogni sociali, ecologici ed economici \ndei nostri clienti, impegnandoci contestualmente a ridurre l’ \nimpatto ecologico  che l’edilizia ha, ed ha avuto, nel nostro \nambiente.Con attenzione a uno sviluppo sostenibile che si \nriflette nel nostro modo di vivere, workshop\u002Fapd si è spe-\ncializzata in ristrutturazioni residenziali di prestigio, nuove \ncase singole ed edifici commerciali. \nFin dall’inizio, nell’ormai lontano 1999, il brand workshop\u002F\napd è cresciuto occupandosi di settori quali l’ arredamento, \nl’ illuminazione, gli accessori, ed ora l’ambiente cucina.\nNel corso del tempo workshop\u002Fapd ha collezionato costan-\nti presenze in pubblicazioni leader nel settore del design. \nTra esse ricordiamo  Architectural Record, Conservation, \nElle Décor, House Beautiful, Interior Design, Metropolis, \nMetropolitan Home, The Christian Science Monitor, The \nNew York Times, The Washington Post and USA Today e \ndiverse altre. \nWorkshop\u002Fapd ha vinto nall’anno 2006 l’appalto per “Glo-\nbal Green USA\u002FBrad Pitt Sustainable Design Competition” \nper New Orleans.
